  New Field Reports

One of the things we're trying to build here at Azimuth is a collection of kayaking stories, guides and anecdotes. Online, with contributors from all over, a growing record of places to paddle… We keep our collection at the Field Reports page on the website, www.azimuthexpeditions.com New reports that have been posted recently include Anderson Island and Lake Whitney, Texas. Your story could be next. Check the website for information on how you can contribute your kayaking tale.

  Kayak'n'Klean Update

Last month's K'n'K went to Filucy Bay and Pitt Island. It was a windy day, both challenging and exhilarating, and everyone involved had a great paddle down near the tip of the Key Peninsula. The K'n'K for March is going to the Nisqually Delta on the 24th… this is one of our most popular destinations and a chance to do something good for our paddling environment. Prices are low and maximum participation is encouraged. Call or check the web for more info and register to be a part of the solution.

  Waterwalker's Ball Tickets

Mark your calendars and buy your tickets for the Waterwalker's Ball. On Saturday night, May 19th, join a group of fellow paddlers for a party at the Mountaineers Hall in Old Town Tacoma. Hosted by Azimuth Expeditions, there will be live music, food and beverages at this early season shin-dig. Check out the web for more info and buy your tickets by the end of March… ticket prices go up in April. All proceeds benefit the Azimuth Discovery Grant Program.

  This Month's Teaser

This one's straight math… remember 9th grade Algebra? The first correct answer gets an Azimuth Expeditions t-shirt and a new lightweight Ortlieb drybag (probably the best drybag on the market). Sharpen your pencils…

A kayaker paddled for two days. On the second day the kayaker paddled 2 hours longer and at an average speed 1 knot faster than he paddled on the first day. If during the two days he paddled a total of 64 miles and spent a total of 18 hours on the water, what was his average speed on the first day?

  Discovery Grant/Scholarship Programs

Time is running out to receive an Azimuth Discovery Grant or an Environmental Scholarship. Azimuth Expeditions has made a commitment to support small groups of kayakers as they journey to interesting places, and we are supporting these   expeditions with cash awards. (Giving money away to deserving recipients is, after all, the essence of how we do business). Applications will be accepted until March 31st. Awards will be made at this year's Waterwalker's Ball, May 19th. It's easy to apply… get more information at www.azimuthexpeditions.com
