Nature abhors a vacuum, and if I can only walk with sufficient carelessness
I am sure to be filled.

  Moving Closer to the Water

Between the high cost of rent and a new addition to the Azimuth family (Micah Joseph Campbell, born January 9th), the decision has been made to move the office to Salmon Beach in Tacoma, less of a commute and a whole lot closer to the water. The office move doesn't really change much as far as day-to-day operations, but it will hopefully make the administrative side of the job a little less hectic. If you have any questions, just kayak in for a visit or call any time.

  Kayak'n'Klean Update

The first Kayak'n'Klean of the year went out on a perfect day in Carr Inlet, near Fox Island, and a great time was had by all. Overall, the beaches here were in pretty good shape and there was very little actual garbage on the ground, which was a pleasant surprise. Our course took us around tiny Tanglewood Island and we began and ended the excursion at the mouth of Wollochet Bay.
There is a K'n'K scheduled every month of the year. The cost is kept low and the routes are planned for maximum enjoyment for all. The next K'n'K is going out to Filucy Bay on February 18th. Join us!

  The Cap'n is Back!

After a 2-year absence, Cap'n Jack's tide tables are out for 2007, along with the insert for the Current Atlas (possibly the best current guide ever)! The Current Atlas itself is not available yet, although it is expected shortly. If you live in western Washington and you haven't used the tide tables, take a look the next chance you get. They are currently available at Backpacker's Supply in Tacoma as well as in boating supply stores throughout the Puget Sound region.

  Puzzle Winner

Last month's puzzle was won by Linda Shewey of Tacoma, who was first to send in the correct response. We hadn't decided on a prize when the puzzle went out… it seems we were lacking a sense of direction. So it seems fitting to send Linda a Suunto Orca deck compass, so she'll be able to keep her course steady wherever she goes. For those of you who also played along, the correct answer to the riddle is as follows:
Dirk Ives
Ellen Sumner
Erik Lister
Greg Austin
Nelson Newton
Tony Dunn

Be watching for another puzzle in next month's newsletter and thanks for playing!
